W-2 employees earn 1 hr for every 30 hrs worked. There is no annual cap, however, only 40 hours can be rolled over to the following year. Your balance can be found in Gusto and on your paycheck each week. It includes rollover from last year and this year’s cumulative total.

Use Protected Time Off for:

- Medical care for yourself
- Delivering medical care for a family member
- Caring for your child
- Caring for a disabled family member
-  Leaving an abuser or seeking help if you’re experiencing domestic violence, unwanted sexual contact, stalking, human trafficking, workplace violence, or domestic violence.
- Staying home during extreme weather events or other public emergencies
- Attend your public benefits or public housing appointments or hearings

(See policy above for further details)

Our calendar year is Jan 1st to Dec 31st.

If you are using more than three sick days, please provide a doctor’s note within 48 hours of your return.

To Receive Safe/Sick Pay:

1. Notify your superior as soon as possible. If advance notice is possible, submit a Sick Notification Form.

2. Once you are well, submit the Confirmation of Use Form and specify the number of hours used.

3. Once the Confirmation of Use Form is received and reviewed, you will see the paid sick/safe leave in your next paycheck.

Request Paid Sick/Safe Leave

Unpaid Sick Leave

Each W-2 employee receives 32 unpaid safe/sick leave hours that can be used immediately upon employment. There is no waiting or accumulation period.

When using safe/sick leave hours, the paid hours will be used first. Then, once they are used up, you will have 32 more unpaid hours to pull from.
